Obituary

William J. “Bill” Daunis, age 80, a resident of Lowell for the past 30 years, formerly of Derby and Ansonia, CT, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

He was the beloved husband of Marcia F. (Prosco) Daunis with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 17, 2025.

Born in Derby, CT on August 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Frank A. Daunis and the late Ann M. (Rusinik) Daunis.

Bill was raised in the Derby and Ansonia, CT area. He attended local schools and graduated from Pine High School in Ansonia, CT. Following high school, he attended the University of Bridgeport.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 21 years by Tufts University, where he worked as a carpenter.

He was an accomplished woodworker and craftsman. Bill enjoyed furniture making as well as crafting musical instruments including a violin. In addition, he enjoyed photography, bird watching and hiking.

Bill was a member of the Woodworker’s Guild of Eastern Massachusetts.

In addition to his wife, family members include his brother, Francis J. Daunis and his wife Gail, of Oxford, CT, two sisters, Dolores M. Corneau, of St. Petersburgh, FL and the late Margaret A. Pastore and her late husband John: two nephews, John and Gil Pastore: one niece, Danielle Daunis. He leaves many extended family members and friends.

Calling hours are Monday, September 15th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a prayer service to begin at 12 Noon at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury.
