Obituary

George B. Cunningham, 90, of Medway died September 6 at the Davis James Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Dagmar E. (Starks-Sture) Cunningham who died in 2023.

Born in Boston, December 5, 1934, the son of the late Patrick and Jane (White) Cunningham. George was raised in Roxbury and Jamaica Plain before moving to Medway 45 years ago.

George had been a police officer for the City of Boston for 20 years before retiring. He then went on to work as a security officer the Federal Court House in Boston for several years.

George loved horses, he trained and owned several trotters over the years.

He also enjoyed fixing up and selling antique cars.

He is survived by his son Stephen Cunningham and his wife Kerrie of Medway.

He is also survived by his brother Eddie Cunningham of Dracut and was the brother of the late Ann Coughlin.

George is also survived by in his grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Stephany and Carley and his great-granddaughter Scarlett.

His graveside service will be held on Tuesday , September 16 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
