SEBAGO- Penelope Reggie “Penny” Crabtree of Sebago passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family members & caregivers September 5, 2025. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 7th, 1942. She was a dedicated member of the Denmark Congregational Church to which she attended regularly with many of her friends until her declining health prevented such outings. Penny was an educated lady holding more than one degree and with many talents to include writing screen plays and poetry. Penny’s career started in Newscasting early in life and she retired from The Federal Bureau of Investigation later in life. Penny’s favorite hobby was reading although she also loved cooking, sewing, traveling, flowers of all kinds and collecting antique teapots. Penny was also an avid animal lover enjoying the company of her companion Polly until Polly passed on August 4 2025. She shared a very loving marriage with her husband of 45 years, enjoyed traveling all over the world, running an antique bookstore and blueberry farm from their home in Sebago.
Penny is preceded in death by her loving husband Allen F Crabtree III, her parents Mr. & Mrs. Reggie and stepson Allen F Crabtree IV. She is survived by her son Chris Wright & April Wright (Wife), Stepson James Crabtree & Kimberly Crabtree (Wife), Abigale Crabtree (step-granddaughter) and Ian Crabtree (step-grandson)
The family is being assisted with funeral arrangements by Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cornish Maine where the family will hold a public viewing on Friday September 12th from 5pm-8pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to our dedicated team of CNA’s & nurses through both Andwell Hospice and Home Instead, who allowed us to care for Penny at home. Pam, Linda, Bridgett, Lisa, Ann, Denise, Gabby, Katie, Keith and Tampsom we were blessed to have each of you at our side during Pennys final days and we want each of you to know how much the family appreciates your dedicated and compassionate care.
