Marie Iness Janvier, 85, passed away on August 29, 2025. She was born in Croix-Des-Bouquet, Haïti on April 09,1940 to Naive Coriolan and Antenor Janvier. She had 15 siblings; Liliane, Agenor, Mantelia, Yote, Frederick, Anolaine, Michel, Guerda, Saphiea, Floristal, Kelese, Feganie, Jeanine, and Jean Horacius. Predeceased by 14 of her siblings.


In Haiti, she was a merchant just like her sisters. She did this until December 1994, she left Haiti for the first time to see her daughter, Yolene, in America. Since then, Marie would spend six months in Haiti and six months in America, this way she could see most of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews grow. In 2011, she was diagnosed with Early onset Alzheimer's and spent her remaining days with her daughter in America with occasional trips back to Haiti.


Marie was a lively, easy-going, loving, and fun mother and grandmother. Growing up she was her family’s confidant, anyone could come to her and feel relaxed. She had a personality that attracted everyone around her. Whenever she saw any of her kids- her kids meant her children, her nieces, nephews, cousins and any child in the compound she would always make sure they felt loved and properly fed. She loved dancing, telling jokes, being with her family, watching her soap operas, and enjoyed life.


Marie was the beloved mother to Ulrick Mentor (deceased), Jean-Jean Baptiste Maboire, Yolene Maboire Falaise, Willy Maboire, and Watson Maboire (deceased). Loving grandmother and great-grandmother to Ralph Maboire, Huguens Mentor, Frantz Mentor, Beatriz Maboire, Milet Maboire Delva, Ruben Mentor, Nekeyla (Nikki) Falaise Desir, Mirielle Mentor, Fabiola Falaise, Kendy Mentor, Kelly Maboire, Netty Vayola Maboire, Josie Kylie Maboire; Yeanyork Rocha, Kevin Rocha, Bensley Mentor, and Gabrielle Desir. She also leaves behind her brother Janvier Jean Horacius, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


All are welcome to her viewing, Saturday, September 13th from 9am - 10am at First Parish, 2 Elm Street, Malden, MA, followed by a funeral service at 10am. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden, MA. Repast held at Anthony's Malden at 1:30pm, 105 Canal St, Malden, MA.
