Obituary

Richard E. Mains, 77, of Anderson died September 3, 2025 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville.

He was born April 4, 1948 in Anderson, the son of Ronald and Frances (Hale) Mains.

He graduated from Anderson High School in 1966, then was inducted into the United States Army. Following his service, he worked in skilled trades at Delco Remy division of General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 2006. He was a member of United Auto Workers and served as a committee man. He was a member of the First Pentecostal church and served as a volunteer chaplain at the Pendleton Prison and the Madison County Jail. He also served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Independent Federal Credit Union.

Richard is survived by his wife, Freda "Bernice" (Randolph) Mains, whom married on Valentine's Day in 1992; a step-daughter, Lisa Holloway; daughter-in-law, Angie Mains; his three grandchildren, Abby Mains, Tiffany Garretson and Brent Garretson; five great grandchildren, Elena, Elijah, Paisley, Emery and Taylor; sister, Sue Coots and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Mains and his son, Brian Mains.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at First Pentecostal Church in Anderson with Bishop Danny St. Clair, Pastor Luke St. Clair and Pastor Dan Mundy all of First Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton with Military rites by the Daleville Post of the American Legion.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon before the service at the church.
