Mr. Mario Romano, age 85, of Medford formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Winchester Hospital following a very brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Francesca (Turco) Romano and together they shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Randazzo, Sicily, Italy, he was one of five children of the late Antonio and Carmela (Santamaria) Romano.

Mario immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island on July 21, 1955. He first settled with his family in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Following his marriage to his beloved Francesca, the young couple settled in Medford where they have resided for many years. Mario worked for over forty years as a talented and trusted Barber at the Prudential Center in Boston where he owned and operated Mario's Men’s Salon. He will fondly be remembered for his strong work ethic and devotion to his family. Nothing made Mario happier than to be surrounded by his family and those he loved. Although, mostly devoted to his work and family, Mario did enjoy traveling, especially to Las Vegas where he enjoyed dining, shows, and trying his luck in the casino. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his beloved wife Francesca, Mario is survived by his children, Anthony Romano and his wife Tracy of Stoneham, and Sylvia Romano of Haverhill. He was the loving grandfather of Anthony, Alexa, and Michael Romano of Stoneham, Ryan Martin and Christian Collins of Haverhill. Brother of Emilia Giordano and her husband Angelo of Palatine, IL, the late Carmela Papotto and her late husband Joseph, the late Nunzio Romano and his surviving wife Gracie of North Carolina, the late Salvatore Romano and his surviving wife Hilda of Plymouth. He is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Tuesday, September 9th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. As an expression of sympathy contributions may be made in Mario's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
