Lois M. (Dunn) Alves, 74, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 with family by her side. She was the wife of Robert C. Alves, Sr., they shared 54 years of marriage.
Mrs. Alves was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Frederick F. Dunn II and the late Alena F. (French) Dunn and had resided in Dartmouth for the past 20 years. Prior to retirement, she worked as a disability advocate at Southeast Center for Independent Living in Fall River and was also was a special education driver's education teacher at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School and the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. She enjoyed crafting and painting and was a champion shooter at the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors along with her husband include her children: Lori A. DeSousa of Swansea and Robert C. Alves II and his wife Pamela Costa of Brownfield, ME; 2 brothers: Frederick F. Dunn III and his wife Mary of NV, James Dunn and his wife Gina of CA; 2 sisters: Elaine Dunn and Lisa Jackson, both of CA; 7 grandchildren: Stephanie Souza, Joshua DeSousa, Robert C. Alves III, Christian Alves, Kennedy Alves, Alyssa Costa & McKenna Bourgeois; 5 great grandchildren: Skyla, Zoey, Matthew, Sophia and Lilith; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are private.
