Ann M. (Hennessey) O'Brien, a resident of Georgetown and longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 30, 2025. She was 89 years of age.
Ann was born in Boston on June 19, 1936, a daughter of the late William G. Hennessey and Anna M. (Monahan) Hennessey. She grew up in Dorchester where she attended St. Peter's Parochial School and graduated from Mount St. Joseph High School. She worked as a financial analyst in banking for several years and previously worked at Schraffts Candy Company. Ann enjoyed both reading and knitting, and her family was the most important thing in her life.
Ann is the beloved wife of the late Richard E. O'Brien. She is the devoted mother of Maureen Velardi and her husband Nick, Rick O'Brien, Denise O'Donnell and her husband Dan, Shawn O'Brien, Rob O'Brien and his wife Jill, Ginny VanGorder and her husband Frank, Keri Walsh and her husband Pat, Lake County FL Sherriff's Office Lt. Tim O'Brien and his wife Kristine, and Terri Lyn Russell and her husband Chris. She is the loving Nana of Stacey, Jessica, Meghan, Daniel, Shannon, Jennelle, Kelly, R.J., Lake County FL Sherriff's Office Deputy Tim, Connor, Patrick, Lauren, Colin, Hailey, Gavin, Payton, Maeve, the late Eamon, and to her 15 great-grandchildren. She is the dear sister of the late James Hennessey and his wife Joan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law of Kathy Spring, nephew Stephen Hennessey, and niece Lynne Hennessey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ann's funeral on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
