PORTER - Sandra “Sandy” Smalley, age 67, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Maine Medical Center after a long, courageous and hard-fought battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, with her husband Jeff by her side. She was the love of his life and best friends -- together all the time,
She was born in Lachine Quebec Canada on December 3, 1957, daughter of the late John and Shirley Kontogiannatos.
Sandy was a very talented hair dresser in Canada and for the past 20 years here in Porter, with many clients who loved her and will miss her.
She was also a talented artist using many mediums including oil painting, stained glass and wood burning techniques. Sandy also loved working in her numerous gardens that surrounded their house. Of all her activities she most loved spending time with her husband – fishing, 4-wheeling, traveling or just driving around.
Sandy is survived by her beloved husband – Jeffrey, her brother Andrew Natos and his girlfriend Angela Massia and her son Jonathan Boucher and his girlfriend Jan Rose and grandson Jace.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Maine Health Cancer Care and IV Therapy in South Portland and the 7th floor oncology staff at Maine Medical Center, Gibson Oncology for their loving and compassionate support and care throughout Sandy’s battle with AML. Also, thanks to the ladies at the Calvary Bible Church who Sandy always enjoyed visiting.
Sandy will be missed by so many and will be forever in our hearts. Private services for family will be arranged at a later date.
