Obituary

Worcester – Frank Simkus, 94, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 at Saint Vincent Hospital after a short illness.
His loving wife of 57 years, Germaine Charest, predeceased him in January of 2018. He was the son of Frank and Irene Simkus of Worcester. He is survived by his niece Kathleen Bradley of Chepachet, RI and other nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.
Mr. Simkus graduated from the former Commerce High School and Nichols College. He served as a marine in the Korean War. He proudly carried proof of this in his wallet and loved to show anyone that asked him. His war stories were amazing. Subsequent to the war, Frank worked many years as a surveyor for the city of Worcester.
Mr. Simkus LOVED golf. He joined Green Hill Park at age ten, and had been an active member ever since. He had made six hole-in-one’s over the years. He established many special friendships with staff, they treated him like one of the family. Once he stopped driving, staff members would drive him to the club 5 days a week to assist in golf lessons or just be in the office to greet everyone. This continued up to one week ago.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. He will proudly be buried with his wife at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Buzzards Bay, MA.
