Obituary

“USEdmund F. "Eddie" Freeman, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Thursday August 21, 2025 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 74 years old.

Eddie was born in Cambridge on December 7, 1950, a son of the late Edmund E. Freeman and Sarah (Coyne) Freeman. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated high school. Eddie enlisted into the United States Army on November 16, 1971 and served with pride and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on November 6, 1973 with the rank of Private First Class. Eddie worked in the Maintenance Division for the City of Boston for many years. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and was a former season tickets holder. He enjoyed collecting coins, and could often be spotted walking around Charlestown, in Dunks, or sitting on a bench in the mall. He was a member of the Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association and the Malden Moose.

Eddie is the former husband and best friend of Roberta (Morris) Freeman. He is the loving Papa Ed of Teri MacDonald and her husband Dan, Brittany Hynes and her husband Scott, Daniel MacDonald and his fiance Jacqueline St. Germain, Peter MacDonald, and the late Mervyn "Butchie" Landenburg. He is survived by his brother Joseph Freeman and several loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eddie's visiting hours on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025 from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon, concluding with his Funeral Service at 12 Noon in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Charlestown. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
