Joseph E. "Joe" Marciniak

CHICOPEE – Joseph E. “Joe” Marciniak, 92, a longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 21, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at the Chicopee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in South Hadley on June 27, 1933, a beloved son of the late Joseph F. and Anna (Boutin) Marciniak. He was raised in South Hadley and Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke Trade High School and lived in Holyoke for many years. He moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee in 1997 where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was a carpenter for the former Dennis Play Things in Holyoke where he specialized in the making of cribs, baby furniture and cabinets. He also was employed for many years at the former Merrick Lumber Company. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He enjoyed spending time on the CB radio, listening to audio books, shopping, and going out to eat with his family. Most of all, he was a hard working man who adored his family. He was predeceased by his loving wife and soul mate, Alice R. (LaBonte) Marciniak who was Called Home on January 6, 2018. They were married in Springfield on December 18, 1970 and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. He leaves his loving and devoted daughter, LuAnn Gillis and her husband, Richard Kocinski, of Chicopee; his six loving stepchildren, Lorraine S. (Badger) Chamberlain of Twentynine Palms, CA, Raymond S. Badger and his wife, Jane, of Holyoke, Linda J. (Badger) Colon and her partner, Carlos Fontoura, of Palmer, Edward R. Badger and his wife, Deborah, of Springfield, Ronald W. Badger and his wife, Deborah, of Chicopee and Kenneth R. Badger and his partner, Anna V. Michaud, of Holyoke; his many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Marciniak, Badger, and LaBonte families. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his loving stepson, William H. “Billy” Badger, Jr. who was Called Home on July 16, 1957; his loving son-in-law, Retired Sergeant Major Charles W. Chamberlain, USMC who was Called Home on September 9, 2012; his two dear sisters, Mary Fagnant and her husband, Robert, and Rita Dunlap and her husband, John; his three dear brothers-in-law, Theodore LaBonte and his wife, Marie, George LaBonte and his wife, Eleanor, and Henry LaBonte and his wife, Jeannette; and his dear sister-in-law, Doris Bienvenue and her husband, Paul. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Prayer Service at Precious Blood Cemetery, 65-73 Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
