Carol A. Batson

Brockton, Massachusetts — Carol A. Batson, 79, passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 12, 2025.

Born in Brockton in 1946, she was the daughter of the late F. Marie (Clayton) and Eugene Merrill. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Batson.

Carol graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1964 and went on to earn her nursing degree in 1966. She devoted her life to caring for others, beginning her career in nursing homes and concluding it as a compassionate hospice nurse. From a young age, friends and neighbors knew they could come to “Mrs. B” for help with anything from a scraped knee to a bee sting. She was happiest when helping those in need.

Family was Carol’s greatest joy. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and was actively involved in their daily lives. She also cherished her newly adopted family, Amber and Gio.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Barbara A. Young, Ann Marie Raymond and her husband Randy, and Donna Batson; she was predeceased by her daughter Lynn Williams. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: James Young and his wife Nicole, Robert Young, Nicholas Raymond, Kaylee Caswell and her husband Anthony, Michael Williams, Joseph Williams, and Jonathan Batson. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Caden Caswell, Skylar Young, and Hunter Kenn.

She is also survived by her siblings Sandra Brown, Fran Pizzano, Louann Hamman and Kenneth Clayton, and was predeceased by her sister Ruth Barnes.

Carol’s compassion, kindness, and unwavering dedication to others will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman, Monday , August 18th from 4-7pm. Tuesday, August 19th at 10:30am there will be a funeral service in the funeral home followed by a burial at Mt Vernon Cemetery in Abington.
