Obituary

Jeanette Carol Pitts Franklin, 90, of Lenox (Colquitt County) passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Omega Church of God with the Rev. Rickey Wells and Eric Seymour. Eulogies will be given by Kayla Franklin and Billy Franklin. Mrs. Franklin will be laid to rest at Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Omega Church of God. The family will gather at the home of Eric and Lisa Seymour.

Scooter Franklin, Zach Seymour, Josh Walker, Donald White, Jimmy Collier, Tim McFarland and David Willis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Franklin’s grandsons, great-grandsons and great-great grandsons.

Mrs. Franklin was born in Tift County on October 30, 1934, to the late Jake Whittaker Pitts and Allie Minerva Nolen Pitts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Edward Franklin, Sr.; one daughter, Bonnie Faye Collier; one granddaughter, Angela Goforth; two great-granddaughters, JaCassidy Howard and Tiffany Laura-Lynn Wilson; four brothers, Tince Pitts, Buddy Pitts, Billie Joe Pitts and J. T. Pitts; and three sisters, Videria Luke, Betty Harris and Patricia Hendricks. Before retiring, she worked in the Shipping Department at Fitzgerald Underwear in Tifton.

Mrs. Franklin loved her Lord and Savior and her church, Omega Church of God. One of her greatest joys was attending Gospel Sings; and she loved to go out to eat and take rides through the countryside.

Mrs. Franklin’s family was very dear to her heart. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Donnie Kaye (Wayne) Crocker of Tifton, Glenda (JL) Williams of Norman park, Deborah (Gene) White of Sylvester and Lawanda Weeks (Jimmy) of Nashville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy (Donna) Franklin of Lenox, Billy (Jennifer) Franklin of Norman Park and Tony (Celeste) Franklin of Moultrie; a daughter-in-law, Paula Kaye Weeks of Norman Park; a son-in-law, Wayne Collier of Moultrie; one sister, Opal Hines of Tifton; 107 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Mrs. Franklin’s amazing caretaker, Amanda Barrett and Southwell Palliative and Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Franklin.
