William J. Fraser, age 80, of Stoneham passed away on Saturday, August 9th surrounded by his loving family. Born in Melrose, Bill was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Edwards) Fraser. He was raised primarily in Medford but moved many times through his early years. Bill met his lovely wife, Charlotte (LaVita) Fraser, and truly believed and wanted everyone to know, that it was love at first sight. Bill and Charlotte got married, raised their family in Somerville, and later moved to Stoneham.

Bill was a hard worker and had many jobs throughout his life. His pride and joy was the canteen business he started, “Bill’s Canteen.” Bill was always happy and positive, and loved life. Bill loved spending time with his family, especially during get-togethers and weekends at the family cottage. Bill always had a smile and was willing to give advice/educate when needed, and sometimes when not. Bill loved people and felt each person he encountered was an “opportunity to make a friend.” He also loved all animals, especially dogs, and even tried a career in dog walking later on in life.

Bill was the beloved husband of Charlotte (LaVita) Fraser, and the devoted father of Deana Longo and her husband Steve, Carla Cheng and her husband Steven, Anthony Fraser and his wife Karen, and Janeane Pennucci and her husband Eric. He was the loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Cristina, Brandon, Aliyah, Rose, Morgan, Tess, Jared and Evan, and dear brother of Gail Fraser, late Edward Fraser and late Thomas Fraser. Bill was the cherished brother-in-law of the late Dennis LaVita, and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 13th from 4 through 8 PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, August 14th, at 11 AM, concluding with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
