Robert G. McGrann, Sr. (Ret. Capt. BFD) age 63, of Quincy, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of Marie Flynn of South Boston.
Born in Boston, he was the son of Thelma A. (Perry) McGrann and the late William J. McGrann.
He graduated from Massasoit Community College, earning an associate degree in Fire Science.
Rob proudly served as a firefighter and paramedic in the City of Brockton for 30 years, retiring as Captain of Squad A (BFD). He was especially proud of the brotherhood of his fellow colleagues in the department.
He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM).
Mr. McGrann loved cars and skiing. He was known for his sense of humor, his generosity, and for being fiercely loyal. His family will always remember him as their hero.
Rob is survived by his two children, Robert G. McGrann, Jr. (MFD) and Michaela McGrann, both of Hanson; a brother Richard McGrann, and sister-in-law Kristen McGrann, of Granby; a sister Lynette McGrann of Lakeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to visit with Robert’s family on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10:30 am, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West Street, Brockton. Interment will be private.
