MURPHY, Leonard (Lenny) Age 89, of Abington, passed away on July 12, 2025
surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Born in Boston to the late Andrew and Mildred (Berlo) Murphy and brother to the late Joanne Giaquinta.
Beloved husband of 68 years to Christyne S. (Cooper); loving father of Daniel Murphy of Abington; Debra Murphy of Middleborough; Suzanne Ennis and her husband Mark of Needham; Michael Murphy and his wife Julie of Abington; Timothy Murphy and his wife Annette of Chelmsford; cherished Papa of 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Retired employee of Verizon, where he worked as a central office technician for 38 years.
Lenny was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox as well as the NFL on Sundays. He also volunteered as a little league baseball coach for his sons. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time with family at their cabin in Kokadjo, a small town in the Moosehead Lake region of Central Maine. He was an avid handyman/DIY-er and applied his skills to bringing "the camp" into the 21 st century by installing electricity, indoor plumbing, skylights and dormers, and by creating a sleeping loft to accommodate his growing family. He loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and had many family pets throughout his life. He will be dearly missed.
