Obituary

Matthew “Matt” J. Porter, 42, of Natick, passed away on Tuesday, July 22nd at Boston Medical Center. He leaves his loving parents, Kenneth and Linda (Pinto) Porter of Clermont, FL; his brother, Mark Porter and his fiancé, Jessica of Worcester; his two nieces, Mallory and Brenna; a nephew, Gavin; his three best friends, Derek Ramm, Joseph LePain, and Collin Potter; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, Matt was a bright light from the very beginning. He graduated at the top of his class from Assumption University, where he pursued his passion for technology by earning a degree in computer science. Following graduation, he began a successful 20-year career at Meditech as a computer programmer. Matt lived life to the fullest and found joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid disc golf player and had recently enjoyed a round with his family. Whether it was hiking through local trails, biking, kayaking, swimming, or running road races — including one he proudly completed with his best friends — Matt thrived in nature and adventure. A true New England sports fan, he loved sharing the excitement of the Bruins and Patriots with those around him. In quieter moments, Matt enjoyed playing video games with his friends. His kindness, willingness to help others, and calm demeanor made him someone everyone felt lucky to know. Matt had a special place in his heart for his nieces and never missed a chance to watch them play hockey, cheering them on with pride.

Matt leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and love for life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

His funeral is Wednesday, August 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10am in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester.
