Ellen P. McLaughlin, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in her beloved Wells Beach, Maine, at the age of 85.
Ellen was the devoted wife of Joseph P. McLaughlin for 62 wonderful years. Together, they made their home in Needham, MA, where they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late Margaret and Thomas Burke.
She was the loving mother of Kristen Ober and her husband Terry of Norwood, MA, and Katie Tunney and her husband Stephen of Needham, MA. Her greatest joy was being “Grammy” to her four granddaughters: Kelty, Michaela, Maggie, and Alison, all of whom she adored deeply.
Ellen is survived by her dear sisters Sheila J. Kingsley, Kathleen Jack, and Rosemary Rooney, along with many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Margaret M. Sheehan and Anna R. Hurley.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 1305 Highland Ave. Needham on Monday, July 28th from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Tuesday, July 29th at 10am, followed a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Needham at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to Hospice of Southern Maine.
