In Loving Memory of Elizabeth (Liz) Werner
Liz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, surrounded by the love of her family, on July 20, 2025.
Liz courageously fought Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years, but never let it define her. Instead, she chose to live a life of service, shaped by her abiding love for Jesus Christ, her family, and her community.
Liz lived her faith. She ran two local Good News Clubs, a children’s ministry program. Leading this program kept her young-at-heart; her energy was both infectious and evidence of the joy she found in sharing the love of Jesus. She was active in Women of the Word, a women’s fellowship group, and Silver Linings, a bible study group, at Encounter Church. She also volunteered for Communion Set Up as a way to show her appreciation for the church community.
Liz had a beautiful singing voice, and her family loved hearing her sing in the Church Choir. As a self-taught ukulele player, Liz also enjoyed playing for, and singing with, her family.
A passionate baker, custom cake designer, and sugar artist, Liz co-founded and ran Confectionately Yours, a successful Ventura cake and candy supply shop, for many years. Her beautiful cakes were expressions of love that featured in countless birthdays and family gatherings.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Shane; her two loving sons, Josh and Aaron, and Aaron’s wife, Patty; her treasured grandchildren, who brought her endless joy: John Anthony, Stella Mariee, Sophia Rose, Dominic James Bruin, and Elijah-Anthony Martin; and her sisters, Arlene Guibas and Tina Albillar.
She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Estella Tirado (lovingly referred to as Papi and Tita); her sister Sylvia Escobar; her nephew Johnathan Guibas; her grandparents-in-law Wilbur (Doc) and Ruby Werner; her father-in-law Larry Werner; and her faithful dog and best friend Cody.
Celebration of Life service details will be shared at a later date.
