Mary Louise Sexton, 83, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Friday, July 4, 2025, at the St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, after a long illness. Born in Brighton, the daughter of the late Louis J. and Mary C (Dyer) Sexton, she was raised in Dedham and educated at St. Mary’s School. She was a Graduate of Holy Cross Academy in Brookline. Mary Lou earned her Bachelors Degree and two Masters Degrees from Framingham State Teachers College. Mary Lou was a longtime teacher at the Avery School in Dedham and the Principal of the Night School in Dedham for many years, retiring many years ago. A dedicated educator, she was pivotal in starting the kindergarten program in Dedham. A longtime parishioner and volunteer at St. Mary’s Church in Dedham, Mary Lou was a devout Catholic, devoted to the Church and enjoyed Catholic TV. She loved teaching and working with children, computers, and technology. Mary Lou’s most cherished moments were spent with her beloved family and her friends.
Mary Lou was the sister of Ellen L. Sexton of Dedham and the late Annette M. Sexton. She is also survived by her cherished nephew Rev. William P. Sexton of Dedham and Our Lady of the Assumption & St. Ann by the Sea Parishes in Marshfield, and many cousins.

Visiting Hours will be held in the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, at St Mary’s Church, 25 Avery St., Dedham at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
