Ms. Ponice “Ms. Punch” Hamlet, 103, of Ventura, CA, was called home on June 12, 2025, by her beloved husband, Samuel Hamlet Jr., at her residence in Ventura, CA, surrounded by loved ones.
Ponice Dixson was born on May 23, 1922, in Kiblah, Arkansas, to Joshua Dixson and Hagar Johnson. She moved to California at the age of 21, where she fell in love with and married Samuel Hamlet. Their union was blessed with four children: Anthony, Alesia, Samuel, and Kristi Hamlet.
She retired from Stokely Van Camp after 25 years of dedicated service, retiring at the age of 54. After retirement, she and several of her siblings lovingly cared for their mother until her passing. Ponice was known for helping friends and family throughout the community. She enjoyed spending time at the senior center, gardening, and canning.
She is survived by her four children, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
“Ms. Punch” was preceded in death by her husband, her eight siblings, and many other loved ones.
