“And I will dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.” – Psalm 23:6
Joan Grantham, a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and cherished member of the Tifton community, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025. Born in Fitzgerald, Georgia, Joan later made her home in Tifton, where she lived and worked for many years. She was employed with dedication and precision as a product labeling specialist at Burlen Corporation.
Joan was the beloved daughter of Maddie Lou Phillips and James P. "JP" Young. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Earl Grantham; her cherished grandson, Jason Earl Grantham (JJ); and her siblings: Leon Young, Hubert Young, Melvin Young, Jay Young, Charles Young, Gladys Fussell, Evelyn Smith, May Shinoster, and Mildred Wright.
She is survived by her brother Marvin Young and his wife, Lisa Young, as well as her three sons, whom she adored and lovingly referred to as “her boys”: William Earl Grantham (Bill) and his wife Gaye Grantham, Wendell Lamar Grantham, and Bobby Earl Grantham Jr. (Bob). Her love for them was steadfast and unconditional, and her life centered around their happiness and well-being.
Joan was blessed with grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life: Shauna Hope Grantham and the late Jason Earl Grantham (JJ). Her great-grandchildren—Tatum Mercer Velasquez, Grady Michael Segui, Jaden Drew Grantham, and Collins Avery Segui—were the lights of her life, each one held close to her heart.
A woman of unwavering faith, Joan was a dedicated member of Baptist Purity Church. She found deep joy in her Saturday morning outings with friends, sharing laughter, companionship, and good food. Her favorite hymn, Amazing Grace, was a beautiful reflection of her spirit and devotion to God.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Hiers officiating. The family will receive friends for a viewing beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Joan will be laid to rest at Mystic Baptist Cemetery immediately following the service.
