Obituary

Eric Macaulay Trevelyan, Sr., 80, of Tifton passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025, at his residence. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. A memorial service will be announced.

Born January 11, 1945, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Mr. Trevelyan was the son of the late Lieutenant Colonel Ray A. Trevelyan and Dorothy Tower Trevelyan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Trevelyan was preceded in death by two brothers, Thornton and Alan Trevelyan; two sisters, Fern and Gay; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Grady and Frances Ray, who loved him like a son; and his son, Eric Jr., who passed away in 2023.

After graduating from high school, Mr. Trevelyan attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He retired from Tifton Aluminum Company as a Purchasing Agent; and he also owned 60-Minute Drycleaners on Love Avenue in Tifton. He was an active member of Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church in Tifton.

Mr. Trevelyan was involved in the Tifton community as a member of the Tifton Jaycees, where he was part of the Kitchen Cook Team and worked on many Jaycee projects for Tifton and Tift County.

In his leisure time, he loved swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, golf, and building Adirondack chairs. He was also a self-taught taxidermist.

Mr. Trevelyan is survived by his wife, Cheryl “Cherry” Ray Trevelyan of Tifton, to whom he was married for 58 years; his daughter and her husband, Heather and Ben Lindsey of Tifton; his grandchildren, Chelsea Trevelyan Townson and her husband B.J.; and Mallory Claire Lindsey and wife Carianne.
