Obituary

Thomas J. Doherty of Saugus, MA entered into eternal life on June 8th 2025.

He was born on April 12th, 1941. Son of the late Thomas Doherty and Catherine (Flynn) Doherty.
Tom grew up in Charlestown. He was educated in Boston public schools. He graduated from Charlestown High School with the class of 1959. He excelled in baseball and football. He lead the last “School Boy Parade” in the city of Boston in 1959.

Tom was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local 25 of Charlestown. He worked as a truck driver for White Fuel. He was a longtime shop steward until his retirement. Tom was an avid Boston Sports fan. He enjoyed watching all Boston Sports. He played softball for the Teamsters Local 25 team until his late 50’s. Tom was an active member of the 520 club in Charlestown where he often socialized with many of his lifelong friends. Tom and Peg loved to vacation in Marco Island, Florida. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with family and friends.

Tom will be fondly remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. He will forever live in the hearts of those he loved.
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years Margaret (Peggy Clark) Doherty.
His children Thomas Doherty and his wife Donna of Londonderry, NH and James Doherty and his wife Mary of Wilmington, MA.

He was the proud and loving Gramps to Shaun Doherty and his wife Alysha of North Reading, MA, Kerrianne Holland and her husband Jesse of Salem, NH, Thomas Doherty of Lexington, MA. Michael and Matthew Doherty of Wilmington, MA, and Danielle and Jessica Doherty of Londonderry, NH.
Tom had many great grandchildren who he adored. He thoroughly enjoyed their visits and watching them grow. He was the brother-in-law of Robert and Debbie Clark and Patty and Frank Figucia. He was also brother-in-law to the late Michael Clark. Tom is also survived by many close cousins, his nieces and nephews and their families and lifelong friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom’s visiting hours on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His Burial will be private.
