Ronald Grayson Whittemore
July 8, 1936 – May 29, 2025
Ron Whittemore passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, with his beloved wife Mary by his side. He was 88.
Born in Winchester, Massachusetts, Ron was raised in a musical family and began piano lessons at the age of five. He spent his formative years in Colorado, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Colorado State University. Ron served in Army Security in Ethiopia before settling in California, where he began a lifelong journey in sales, music, and faith.
Ron became a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood in 1966. It was through a Bible study at Bel Air Presbyterian Church that he met Mary. They married in 1984 and shared a life rich in music, waterskiing, and deep friendships. Ron lovingly embraced Mary’s children and created his own place in their lives to build strong bonds rooted in kindness and respect.
A gifted accompanist and singer, Ron sang with both the Hollywood Pres Cathedral Choir and Angeles Chorale. He was curious, thoughtful, and always learning—studying languages, handwriting analysis, and the people around him. When you spoke to Ron, you felt like the only person in the room.
Ron is survived by his wife Mary; sister Sandra Bron; stepchildren Steve (Darcy) and Rachel (Rich); six grandchildren, Megan, Anthony, Gracie, Paige, A.J., and Dylan; and two great-grandchildren, Aslan and Richie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, 1760 N. Gower Street, Los Angeles, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the music ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood in Ron’s memory.
