Obituary

QUAGLIAROLI, Judith F. of Needham. Judi is survived by her sons Peter J. and James J., daughters-in-law Laura (Hunter) and Kimberly (Henry), grandsons John, Joseph, and Henry, granddaughter Caroline, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was born in Ithaca, New York, daughter of the late Malcolm (“Red”) and Silvia (Farino) Fowler. She was predeceased by her older brother, James C. Fowler (2014), and her husband of 45 years, John A. Quagliaroli (2015).

Judi graduated from Ithaca High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Cornell University, where she was a double major in economics and biological sciences. Judi earned her MBA from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, where she later established a scholarship in the name of her parents. After receiving her MBA, Judi joined IBM where she had a successful 27 year career and where she met her husband John. In 1993, Judi was appointed Executive Director of Management Development Programs at Simmons University School of Management. Over five years, she successfully led the program and served as a mentor to numerous women who would become future business leaders.

Judi embodied a life of service, volunteering at numerous educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and charitable organizations. She served as a volunteer at Boston Children’s Hospital for 25 years; a volunteer EMT for 22 years; and was a 20 year member of the Needham Exchange Club. She served as a member of the President’s Council at Cornell University, a trustee of Charles River School, and an active volunteer at The Roxbury Latin School. Judi’s lifelong love of sports started as a child, playing with her older brother, and watching football and baseball — and faithfully scorekeeping — with her father. As an adult, her joy for sports was reflected in her steadfast sideline support for her sons and grandchildren.

An avid reader, student of history, and lifelong learner, Judi loved to explore new places — but most of all, she loved welcoming family and friends into her home and cooking for everyone. Her table was a place of laughter, kindness, and love. She will be remembered for her loyal friendship, generous spirit, and deep commitment to those in need.

Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Parish, 1328 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA on Friday, June 20, at 10:00 am. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Judi’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI); Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, attn: Sylvia F. and Malcolm K. Fowler Scholarship; and Little Dog Ranch, littledogranch.org.
