Betty Hutchinson Braswell, 96, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Legacy Village in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Luke Braswell and the Rev. Brad Baker officiating. Mrs. Braswell will be laid to rest at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Braswell’s family members will serve as pallbearers.
Born June 3, 1929, in Decatur, Mrs. Braswell was the daughter of the late John Hyman Hutchinson and Nina Burk Hutchinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William James Braswell; one brother, Rogers Hutchinson; and one sister, Francis Zipperer; and her step-mother, Linnie Hutchinson. Before retiring, she worked for many years as a cashier at Big Star Food Store in Tifton.
Mrs. Braswell is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Mary Braswell and Randy and Claire Braswell, all of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Luther Blalock of Tifton; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie and Missy Gibbs, Jodi and Jon Evans, Sarah Braswell, Luke and Brianne Braswell, Anna Braswell, and Mary Esther Braswell; four great-grandchildren; Christen Gill and her husband, Jeremy Gill, Jessica Gibbs, Elijah Braswell, and Elowen Braswell; and two great-great grandchildren, Ruby Gill and Charlie Gill.
