Donald A. D'Urso, 77, of Bedford, NH, died Thursday May 22, 2025, at Bedford Falls Assisted Living in Bedford, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was born in Lawrence, MA on January 6, 1948, the son of the late Domenic and Antoinette (Turrisi) D'Urso. He had been a resident of Bedford for the past year, formerly living in Windham for twenty years and Londonderry for almost 30 years prior to that.
Don made his career as a pharmacist. He got an early start when he when he went to work at the local pharmacy while still a student at Lawrence High School. After graduating from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Don began his career as a pharmacist which spanned more than forty years. Most of those years were spent as the trusted local pharmacist at Osco Drug in his hometown of Londonderry, NH, where he was well known for his kind and friendly demeanor to all.
Don was a lover of both music and the ocean. In his younger years he spent time playing guitar, even in a band or two. He also spent several summers as a lifeguard on Salisbury beach. After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Gail, they spent their time together traveling and developing what would become very meaningful, lifelong friendships.
Don was an active member of the Londonderry community, volunteering his time with the community charity group Dollars for Scholars and as a lector at St Jude’s Parish.
Hanging out with his grandkids and attending their sporting events and yearly trips to Story Land and Santa’s Village became his favorite things to do. Papa will be deeply missed.
Don’s life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail (Joubert) D'Urso; his children Kimberly and Eric Skinner, Matthew D'Urso and Kristin Barden; and Beth and Matthew Bernard; his grandchildren, Bella, Kailee, Samuel, Alexander, Brycen, Lyla, Caleb, and Tyler; as well as his sister, Donna D'Urso-Foley.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 1st from 1 - 4pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 2nd at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd at 11:00am in the Pillsbury Cemetery, Hovey Rd., Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
