Joseph LiCausi passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on May 16th. He was 101. Born in Marsala, Sicily, January 1, 1924, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria LiCausi.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. When he first came to the United States, he lived in Boston’s North End. Later he and his wife Rose established their home in Medford, where they had many wonderful years together. He was affectionately known as Papa to many. Joe was a commercial fisherman out of Boston for 45 years. Joe was the embodiment of hard work, dedication and love. He was a member of the Forever Young Club and was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox.
The beloved husband of the late Rose (Giacalone) LiCausi, Joe was a devoted father to Anthony and Karen LiCausi of Melrose, Angelo LiCausi of West Yarmouth and Maria LiCausi and Sheila Brooks of Maynard. He was an adoring grandfather to Jenna Lahiff and her husband Michael of Melrose and Dr. Joseph LiCausi of Worcester. He was a loving great grandfather to Jack, Noah, and Shea Lahiff. Joe was a dear brother to Rosa Fumoso, the late Antoinetta Cocco, Lorenzo and Vito LiCausi, all of Marsala. He was a dear brother-in-law to Michela and the late Marco of Methuen, the late Joseph of Bedford, Frank and Rose of East Boston, Vito and Geraldine of Boston, Catherine and Jerry Riccio of Holbrook, Lena and Vincent Ristagno of Dorchester, Connie and Edward Deveau, Marina Smith, John, David, Paul and James Giacalone. He was a dear friend of Veronica LoConte of Medford.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, May 22nd from 4-8 PM and again on Friday, May 23rd at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Service will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
