Rose M. (Marino) DeLuca passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital on May 14th. She was 97. Born in Medford and raised in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (DiRocco) Marino.
Rose was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She graduated with honors from Charlestown High School, but then she returned to the city of her birth, Medford, where she and her husband Arthur established their loving family home. She began her career working at Metropolitan Life Insurance for many years. Later, she was employed as an optometric assistant, working in the Malden office of Dr. David Schargin, from which she retired. As a woman of faith, Rose was dedicated to her church, Saint Francis of Assisi on the Fellsway West. She was a devoted member of the Mothers Club and the Sodality.
Rose remained very active in her retirement. As an avid reader, she enjoyed being part of the Malden Senior Center's Book Club and went on many excursions with the Medford Senior Center. At home Rose had a green thumb. She brought many wilting and dying plants back to vibrancy.
Rose would often say how much she loved “my little family.”
The beloved wife of the late Arthur C. DeLuca, who passed away in 2005, Rose was a devoted mother to Arthur A. DeLuca and Donald R. DeLuca and his wife Christine. Rose was a dear sister to the late Gloria Guerra and the late Angelina Dalton, both formerly of Charlestown.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, May 20 from 8 AM – 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Saint Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
