Joseph Fernand Berthiaume, 105, of Palmer, MA, passed away Saturday May 10, 2025, at his home in Palmer, MA. He was born on March 24, 1920, in Ludlow, MA. He had been a resident of Palmer for the past year, formerly living in Davenport, FL and Sandown, NH. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Marriot Corp as a mechanical engineer.
He was a member of the VFW Post #1617, St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge #44 F & AM., and the Bell Chapter No 25 R.A.M., all in Derry, NH. Joseph was also a member of the NH 32-degree Scottish Rite -Valley of Nashua, the St. George Commandry #8 Knights Templar, and the Israel Hunt Council #8 RYSM, all in Nashua, NH. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 0200 Concord and the Bektash Shriners of Concord, NH, Meridian Sun Chapter #9 R.A.M. Nashua, N.H. While living in Florida, Joseph was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Davenport FL.
He is survived by three children, Rene Berthiaume, Estelle Moynahan, and Denise Fletcher. Ten grandchildren, Tina, Coreen, Jayson, Sean, Dennis, Scott, Mark, Janelle, Monica, and David, and 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great- grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Marguerite, second wife Jessie L., his third wife Nellie Fay, and his daughter Rose Marie Oskard, son-in-law James Oskard, and daughter-in-law Roberta Berthiaume.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 1:30 – 3:00pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Burial will follow in the Great Hill Cemetery, Route 121a, Chester, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
