Greg Louis Loiacono was born December 1, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts. The fifth of ten siblings, he was raised in a tight knit Italian family on the North Shore. Greg also resided in Arizona, Hawaii, North Carolina, Florida and New Hampshire. He was passionate in his work as a caretaker for special needs adults and a counselor for troubled youth. He then went on as a reservation and travel agent. Greg was a lifelong chef, both professionally and personally. He loved gardening, art, home improvement, music, old movies and was an avid reader. He always looked forward to spending time with his extended family and friends. Greg passed away unexpectedly at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by family.
Devoted son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Power) Loiacono, and step-son of the late Patricia (Palkey) Loiacono. Loving Grandson of the late Aurie and Hannah “Ruby” (Crooks) Power and the late Ponzi and Natalie (Moriconi) Loiacono, and the late Mae Loiacono.
Loving Brother of the late Richard Dappolonio and the late Daryle Dappolonio both of Florida, Dante Loiacono and his wife Paula of North Andover, Robert Loiacono of Whitefield, NH, Shirley Loiacono of Tewksbury, Valerie Loiacono of Tewksbury, Jessica Loiacono of Whitefield, NH, and Lisa Loiacono and her fiance George Tsonis of Peabody and Natalie Tripolitis and her husband George of Weymouth, with whom Greg lived with, along with their three adult children at the time of his passing.
He was also the fantastic Uncle to 61 nieces and nephews including the late David Johnston and the late John Ranahan.
Greg now joins all his dearly departed family and his beloved dog Jack.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, MA 02155. A memorial service will be held during the visitation beginning at 5:00pm.
For Greg’s love of gardening, the family requests potted plants in lieu of flowers.
