Michael A. Penta, 77, of Swampscott, passed away unexpectedly at the NSMC / Salem Hospital on Monday, August 12, 2024. He was the loving husband of Marilyn A. (Toomey) Penta with whom he would have celebrated fifty years of marriage later this month. Born in Cambridge and raised in Winchester, he was the son of the late Michael A. and Frances (Doherty) Penta. A graduate of WinchesterHigh School, Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and continued his graduate study at Babson College. Michael first worked in banking, then decided to establish his own business, Professional Maintenance Services, a commercial cleaning company that he operated for over thirty-five years, servicing cities and towns within Middlesex County and the North End of Boston. Mike was very devoted to his family. He enjoyed countless family trips to New York City as well as family ski trips toVermont and Colorado.He had an avid interest in history, art, and music and shared that passion with his children and grandchildren during trips to Gettysburg, PA,and vacations in France, Italy, and Switzerland. He was a dedicated fan of the Florida State Seminoles football team and loved that his grandchildren (“his buddies”) were always eager to wear their fan gear with him on game days.He also loved hockey, whether it bewatching the Boston Bruins or an early morning trip to the rink to watch his son play. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by their daughter, LauriePenta Pelletier and husband Philip Michael Pelletier of Swampscott, their son, Alex Michael Penta and wife CourtneyHogan Penta of Furlong, PA, his sister, Charlene A. Penta of Medford, his brothers, Christopher J. Penta and wife Eileen Holzman of Andover, Joseph R. Penta and wife Susan of Grand Lake, Colorado, and his sister, Rosemary Marchese and husband Joseph of Frederick, MD. He was proud to be Papa to his five grandchildren, Reagan and Madison Pelletier, and Reilly, Brooks, and CampbellPenta. He also leavesmany beloved nieces and nephews as well as his best canine pal, Shadow. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 10 AM to be followed by his Funeral Service at the Church of St. Andrew (Episcopal), 135 Lafayette St, Marblehead, MA 01945 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Aug 20th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
