Obituary

Frank A. Mansi, 75, of Maplecrest Drive, Smithfield, died Monday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Knowlton) Mansi. They were married on November 7, 1959.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Matthew and Anna (DiPiro) Mansi.
Mr. Mansi had established the Mansi Insurance Agency in 1972 and retired in 1989. He has owned and operated the Apple Valley Car Wash in Smithfield since 1978.
He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, flying 27missions over Korea. He received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Good Conduct Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He also received four air medals and this is where he developed his passion for aviation. He owned his own plane and flew out of North Central Airport for over 40 years. He was a former commissioner of the Smithfield Housing Authority, the former President of Smithfield Independent Insurance Agents and the RI Independent Insurance Agents, a former trustee of Citizens Bank, and the North Providence Jaycees. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working on his farm, horseback riding and fishing.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Frank A. Mansi, Jr., and Jeffrey D. Mansi, both of Smithfield, a daughter, Kristina M. Micheli and her husband Peter D. of Smithfield; a grandson, Dante Giovanni; a brother, Ronald Mansi and two sisters Maria D’Arezzo and Anna Montella all of North Providence. He was the brother of the late Eleanor Cerroni.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:00am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Avenue, Greenville. Visitation Thursday 4-8pm in the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 222 Richmond Street, Suite 200, Providence, RI 02903.
