Cheryl A. (Gonsalves) Hetu, 71, of Westport, died Monday, September 4, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Eugene R. Hetu.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Antone and Rose (Cardoza) Gonsalves, she had lived in Westport for 40 years. Prior to retirement, she was a registered nurse at St. Anne's Hospital. She was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Mrs. Hetu loved spending time with her family.

Including her husband, she is survived by 2 sons: Christopher J. Hetu and his wife Ruth of Carver, MA and Jeffrey R. Hetu and his wife Kate of Middleboro, MA; a daughter: Rebecca L. Gifford and her husband Bradford of Westport; 3 brothers: Antone Gonsalves of San Francisco, CA, Gary Gonsalves of Franklin, MA and Brian Gonsalves of Lakeville, MA; 6 grandchildren: Logan, Amber, Isabella, Antone, Cassidy and Caylyn; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, September 11, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.

Visitation will be Monday from 8:30 A.M - 10:30 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home prior to the Mass.

Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
