Robert C. Gray, age 86, of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the beloved husband of Carrol E. (Tracey) Gray.

Born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada on June 11, 1937, he was a loving son of the late Robert and Edith (Beddow) Gray.

Bob spent his childhood in Nova Scotia and as a teenager his family moved to the United States, settling in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. He was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and during the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in Japan and on May 13, 1960 was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal (E-4).

Mr. Gray was a resident of Norton for the past fifty-one years and prior to retiring, worked as a Troubleman for Boston Edison for thirty years. He was a member of Local 108 I.B.E.W and Local 104 N.E.B.S. He was a member of the American Legion and a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton. Above all, Bob will always be remembered for his love of family and his strong work ethics.

In addition to his wife Carrol, he is survived by his devoted children: Mark S. Gray of Norton, Tracey E. Ferguson of Wilmington, North Carolina, Denise A. Wilde of Henniker, New Hampshire and James J. Gray of Palm Island, Florida. He was the cherished and proud grandfather of Katie, Michael, Dan, Madison, Declan and the late Finn. He was the treasured great grandfather of Michael and Maeve. He was the dear brother of Kenneth Gray of Sydney, Nova Scotia and Brian Gray of Billerica.

His Funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, September 8th at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton.

Visitation will be held on Friday morning September 8th beginning at 10:30 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church.

At the conclusion of services on Friday morning, military honors will be rendered by the United State Marine Corps at Saint Mary’s Church. Burial will take privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In place of flowers, Robert’s family would prefer that donations in his memory be made to Finn’s Fighters, P.O. Box 893, Lutz, Florida 33459.
