Mary Jane Vaillancourt
3/2/2023

Mary Jane Vaillancourt, 89, of Salem, Mass., passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Jane was born in Scituate, MA on July 6, 1933, and graduated in 1951 from Scituate High School where she was secretary of her class and played field hockey, softball, and basketball. She attended Fisher Junior College and worked in a Boston medical practice after graduation until her 61-year marriage to Ray began in 1956. Mary Jane continued to work for the family business – Vaillancourt’s Pharmacy – for several decades until its closing in 1993, as well as several years in the 2000s for the Salem Visitor Center which she enjoyed tremendously. While Mary Jane loved the town of her birth, she grew to love the city of Salem equally as much and was an active member of the community for over 60 years.
Above and beyond everything else, Mary Jane was a remarkable and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, friend, and human being who had a tremendous passion for her family and life in general – evident by the battle she put up with father time. She gave both quality and quantity to her family and will leave an everlasting void in the hearts of her family and friends.
Mary Jane is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Vaillancourt and partner, Collette Tansey of Scituate, Mass. and Linda Vaillancourt of Salem, Mass.; her daughter-in-law, Sue (Smart) Vaillancourt and her husband, Peter Gilday of Arlington; her two sons, Ted Vaillancourt and wife, Katie (Quinn) Vaillancourt of Danvers, Mass. and Michael Vaillancourt and wife, Stacey (Freeman) Vaillancourt of Boxford; and her 10 loving grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Sara, Tyler, Cam, Cole, Teddy, Allie, Julia, and Holly. Mary Jane was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Ray Vaillancourt and son, Peter Vaillancourt of Arlington, and her parents, Edward and Mary Stewart of Scituate, Mass.
Visiting hours will be held at Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. (Route 114 / 1-A), Salem on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M .
