Carol A. (Arruda) Henson, age 77, of Norton, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023. She was the beloved wife of John S. Henson, to whom she was wed on February 17, 1973.
Born in Taunton, MA on September 30, 1945, she was a loving daughter of the late Joseph J. and Eva M. (Vincent) Arruda.
Carol grew up in Raynham and was a 1963 graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School. She continued her education, graduating in 1967 from Bridgewater State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and later in 1971 with a Master’s Degree in Education, also at Bridgewater State College.
A resident of Norton for the past forty-nine years, Mrs. Henson was a retired Middle School Math Teacher, having taught at the Laliberte School in Raynham for over thirty years.
Carol’s family was the priority of her life, as were her fellow educators and the lifelong friendships made throughout the years. She formerly served on the Norton Library Committee and was a former member of the Red Hat Society.
Carol loved the memories created while traveling and aboard cruise ships with her husband and fellow teachers and friends Nancy and Dan. Carol’s final two voyage destinations were to Alaska and the Panama Canal. She also enjoyed reading, snow skiing, camping, gardening and the special place in her heart she had for dogs.
In addition to her husband of fifty years, she is survived by her devoted son Christopher J. Henson and his wife Catherine of Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Lillian Henson. She was the dear sister of the late Jerry Arruda. She was the loving aunt of Steve Arruda and Debbie Caramante and their families of Rhode Island and the much-loved sister-in-law of Charles Henson of Norton and the late Paula Henson.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 10th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 10:30 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.
