CRONIN, Joseph F. of West Roxbury, age 79, passed away on February 16, 2023 after a very long illness. Survived by his beloved and devoted friend Barbara Perkins, his dear sister Ann Bennett, brother David, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Joe worked for 32 years at the WR VA Hospital caring for veterans. Joe was the Urology Services Supervising Health Technician retiring in 1998. Joe had many talents including: car repair, electrical repair, coin collecting, and cards (on his days off, he enjoyed playing cards with the spinal cord injury patients). He loved watching Mass on TV and his favorite program was Everybody Loves Raymond. He especially loved his dogs Buddy and Barney. Joe will be deeply missed by Barbara’s 5 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him dearly as Uncle Joe. Joe loved going to all of their school plays, graduations, soccer games, family birthdays, and holiday get togethers. A true Irishman, he loved his family roots and like every young man he dreamed about what he would do in life. He choose a career caring for veterans at the WR VA Hospital until his retirement.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 24th at 11am in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Spinal Cord Injury Services at the West Roxbury VA Hospital, 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
