LaTrelle Barrentine Bagley, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 4, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Annette Brooks and Rev. Randy Daniell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Born September 3, 1929, in Fitzgerald, to the late Frank Randolph and Beatrice Robitzsch Barrentine, she was a 1946 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Bagley was former owner/publisher of Research Triangle News/Durham News Journal in Durham, NC, former Assistant Advertising Manager for Sears in Dothan, AL. She taught English at the St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic School in the Virgin Islands, was former claims manager for Travelers Insurance Co. in Atlanta and a former employee of Pryor Brothers Printing Co. in Fitzgerald. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association. Mrs. Bagley retired in 2001 as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, after 40 years of service. She was the Regional Blood Service Coordinator and a certified instructor. Her travels as a Red Cross volunteer brought her to such places as Nova Scotia, Canada and Connecticut. Mrs. Bagley was a member of Pine Level United Methodist Church and the Church organist for many years.
She is survived by a daughter and son: Mary Beth Verner of Spokane, WA and Randy Bagley of Fitzgerald; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Nathaniel Bagley, Jr., and two sisters, Betty Barrentine and Billy Brock.
