Joanne S. Zecher, 91

Joanne S. (Searles) Zecher, age 91, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, January 8, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald P. Zecher, to whom she was wed for sixty-four years at the time of his death on September 9, 2018.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on June 2, 1931, she was a loving daughter of the late H. Raymond and Dorothy (Goff) Searles.
Joanne grew up in Pawtucket and was a graduate of Tolman High School. She continued her studies, graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.
A resident of Mansfield for many years, Mrs. Zecher was a familiar face at the former Old Country Store, a business she successfully helped to run, along with the hard work and support of her husband and children in West Mansfield Village.
Joanne’s family, whom she loved dearly, was her greatest gift in life. She was a longtime member of the former First Christian Church in West Mansfield and her hobbies included working in her yard, gardening and sewing. Along with her late husband Donald, they enjoyed traveling and especially spending time together with family at their home in Maine.
She is survived by her devoted children: Eric P. Zecher and his wife Patricia of Norton, Bret E. Zecher and his wife Pati of Mansfield and Karen S. Buckley and her husband Dennis of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. She was the cherished grandmother of Courtney Tierney and her husband Brian of Mansfield, Nicholas Zecher and his fiancé Kara of Walpole, Jacob Buckley of Foxborough, Daniel Buckley of Foxborough and the great grandmother of Sydney Tierney and Addison Tierney. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, January 17th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Burial at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield will be private.
