ANDERSON - Jack Miller, 95, passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2022. He was born on July 31, 1927 to Ted and Vera Miller of Anderson. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1945, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II.
A life-long resident of Anderson, he married his high school sweetheart, Harriett (Peggy) Owens in 1947. They celebrated 69 years together before her death in 2016. During the 1960s, Jack founded Anderson’s first advertising agency and later became executive vice-president of Kiley, Miller & Bain agency in Indianapolis. In 1980, he founded his own marketing consulting firm, Benchmark Group, Inc.
Jack was an avid golfer, coin collector and reader. He enjoyed spending time with his family—especially watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.
He is survived by sons, Jack Bartlett Miller (Karen) and Tod Steven Miller (Carole); grandsons, Eric David Miller and Christopher Michael Miller; granddaughter, Katelyn Nicole Miller; great-grandsons, Chace David Miller and Luke James Gamble; brother-in-law, Gene Strause; two nieces and five nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett (Peggy) Owens; sister, Donna (Miller) Strause; niece, Robyn (Strause) Tyler; sister-in-law, Francine Van Dyke, and her husband, Bill Van Dyke; parents, Ted and Vera Miller; and in-laws, Harold and Mildred Owens.
Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Pendleton Community Church of God, 636 E. Water St., Pendleton, with memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fall Creek Valley Community Band, P.O. Box 474, Pendleton, IN 46064.
Burial will be at a later date at Anderson Memorial Park.
