Marilyn (Cotter) Paget of Jamaica Plain, 93, passed peacefully on October 8, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Lynn, MA, one of three children to the late James and Madeline (Foley) Cotter.

Marilyn attended St. Mary’s High School in Lynn and after graduation she worked as a secretary at General Electric. She went on to work at Catholic Charities, and at the age of 20 she met Paul Paget. Two years later they were married and together they took on the family business, the Swan Boats of Boston. In May of 2022, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Marilyn managed the seasonal business from their home for over fifty years. She was Paul’s invaluable business partner. In a busy household of five children, she handled all administrative tasks and kept their home life thoughtfully organized. She was often seen in the kitchen with a ledger and pencil on the table, chatting on the phone with a neighbor, and prepping meals for her children. At the age of 50, Marilyn started her college education attending Boston College at night. Five years later, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.

Marilyn inspired others with her lifelong devotion to her Catholic faith and she generously supported many individuals and charities that cared for people in need. Her faith guided her life, and she was passionate in her commitment to be helpful to others.

Marilyn is survived by her children Paul Paget Jr., and his wife Clare of Hingham, MA, Mark Paget and his wife Elizabeth of Shelton, CT, Jay Paget and his husband Ray Dalere of Boston, MA, Lyn Paget-Swardstrom and her husband Eric Swardstrom of Boston, MA, and Kristina and Patrick Palmer of Windham, NH. Marilyn is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours at the Sacred Heart Church, 169 Cummins Highway, Roslindale on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 9:30 to 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am.
