Maurice C. Fontaine, a longtime Medford resident and only child of Maurice and Simone
(Bernard) Fontaine passed away peacefully at High Point Hospice House in Haverhill, MA on
September 20, 2022. Maurice was born in Three Rivers, MA in 1934 into a French speaking
family, and learned to speak English at the age of six when the family moved to Cambridge, MA.
After high school he was drafted into the army where he served as a cook. Following his military
service he worked for many years as a landscaper at Tufts University. During his time at Tufts he was the Shop Steward and was nicknamed ‘Quasimodo’ because one of his duties was to
manually ring the bell between classes. Maurice loved to cook and entertain, and was always
willing to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A service will be held at St. Anne’s Cemetery, 121 East Main Street, Three Rivers, MA at 11:00
a.m. on Friday, September 30th.
