Obituary

Gerald E. Carron, 74, of Westfield, passed away September 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 13, 1948 in Springfield, he was the son of the late Andrew and Marie (Munson) Grzybowski. Gerald served in the US Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran, Specialist 4, Company A, 3rd Battalion(Airborne), 503D Infantry, Combat Infantry Unit 173D Airborne Brigade and trained as a sniper. He was awarded many medals including 2 Bronze Stars, one with Valor. He worked in Springfield as a metal forger and later at Westover Airforce Base before his retirement. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Club and a friend of “Bill W”. His hobbies included drawing, pottery and above all, spending time with his family, especially helping raise his grandson Riley. He is survived by his wife Susan (Musiak) Carron of Westfield; 2 daughters, Marianne Morando and her husband Victor of Chicopee, and Carrie Sweeeny-Laird of Westfield; a son-in-law Zack Rosiere of Westminster, CO ; a sister-in-law Elsie Carron of Wilbraham; his nephew Peter Carron and his wife Katie of Feeding Hills and their children; his niece Denise DaCruz of Hamden and her children; 7 grandchildren, Timothy Shink and his wife Kylie, Riley Boucher, Victor Morando, Joseph Morando, Benjamin Rosiere, Faith Rosiere, Isabella Rosiere and one great-grandchild, Gulianna “GG” Shink along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him. He is predeceased by his daughter, Lori Rosiere of Westminster, CO who passed away in 2022 and also by his brother Ephraim Carron of Wilbraham, who passed away in 2017. Calling hours will be held on Fri., Sept. 23, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St., Chicopee. A private burial will be held at a later date.
