Marjorie J. (Soar) Scotti, age 75, of Taunton, formerly of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of Daniel B. Scotti, to whom she was wed for fifty-three years.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 8, 1947, she was a loving daughter of the late Hank and Marjorie (Fairman) Soar.

Marge grew up in Pawtucket and was a 1965 graduate of Tolman High School in Pawtucket. She continued her education, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Barrington College in 1969 and later received a Master’s Degree in Education at Bridgewater State College.

Mrs. Scotti had a thirty-year career as an Elementary School Teacher in the Town of Norton. She began teaching at the L.G. Nourse Elementary School and upon retiring was employed at the Henri A. Yelle Elementary School. Marge truly loved her teaching profession and the special interactions made throughout the years with her students and fellow educators.

Marge’s family was always the essence and focal point of life. She loved spoiling her grandchildren with gifts and the lifelong memories created at her family’s beach home in Narragansett, Rhode Island, where she was also a longtime member of the Galilee Beach Club. She enjoyed traveling, trips to Disney World and was also an avid and loyal New York Giants football fan, being the daughter of former Giants football star Hank Soar.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted son Daniel P. Scotti and his wife Betty of Oxford, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Conner and Jacob Scotti, the dear sister of Betsy Hoyt and her husband Jim of Pawtucket, RI, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, September 20th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Interment at Swan Point Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Marge’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket, 1 Moeller Place, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
