William R. Sarro, 72

William R. Sarro, age 72, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving and adoring family on Thursday, July 21, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Thea L. (Reed) Sarro, to whom he was wed for fifty-one years.

Born in Attleboro, MA on September 26, 1949, he was a loving son of the late Joseph and Rose (Leonelli) Sarro.

Will grew up in Mansfield and was a 1967 graduate of Mansfield High School. He continued his education, graduating in 1979 from Bristol Community College with a degree in Fire Science.

Will had made his home in Florida for the past eight years and was a former lifelong resident of Mansfield. Mr. Sarro began his working career as a firefighter for the Town of Mansfield. He later became the owner of Fresh Catch and Dub’s Liquors in Mansfield, companies he successfully ran with the help of his family. Fresh Catch still remains family owned and operated today by his son Bill.

A well-known and active member of the Mansfield Community Will served as a former Mansfield Selectman, a former member of the Mansfield Rotary Club, of which he was the proud recipient of the Paul Harris Award and was also a former member of the Mansfield Elks and formerly served on the Mansfield Ambulance Committee.

Willy’s family was the focal point of his life, especially when in the presence of his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He was also an avid golfer and an ardent New England sports fan.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Robin Sarro and her companion Adam Salmon of Naples, Florida and William F. Sarro of Norton. He was the loving grandfather of Jessica Gayle and her husband Dennis, Max Bouchard and his fiancé Drea, William F. Sarro, Jr, Anthony Sarro and also his 3 great grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Elaine Cipriani and Joseph Sarro and his wife Brenda and is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, August 1st from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

A service in celebration of his life will be held at the conclusion of visitation on Monday, August 1st at 7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, William’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Town of Mansfield, in the memo line “Ambulance Gift”, 500 East Street Building A., Mansfield, MA 02048.
