David C. Brainerd, 71, of Worcester died Thursday, July 14th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. He leaves his wife of 40+ years, Diane (Maricola) Brainerd; a sister, Madeline Brainerd of Brooklyn, NY; and five daughters of the hearts, Diane (Sheehan) McCune of Mansfield, Susan Lucas-Kamat of Albuquerque, NM, Elise (Westmeyer) Boerjes of Medford, Brandi Crawford of Malden, and Felicia Whalen of Worcester.
He was born in Natick the son of Robert S. and Carol I. (Hutchings) Brainerd and graduated from Natick High School in 1968. David graduated from Marietta College, Ohio in 1972 with Bachelor’s degrees in English, Theatre, Speech, and Radio Television. For several years, David worked as a tutor in statistics at the University of New Hampshire, Manchester. He held various jobs over the years but retired in 2015 from General Electric where he worked for 6 years. He previously worked in the IT Department at Tufts and at the Boston Children’s Hospital in the Lab Control Department. David was an interesting man with an odd sense of humor. He enjoyed going off on a ramble often wondering where it would go. Mr. Brainerd had a passion for science fiction books and hard level sudoku puzzles.
David’s memorial service is Saturday, July 30th at 3:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Assist-Ukraine (https://assist-ukraine.org//index.html).
