Joaquim M. “Jack” Cerqueira, 63

Joaquim M. “Jack” Cerqueira, age 63, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his adoring family on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Linda B. (Bower) Cerqueira, to whom he would have celebrated thirty-six wonderful years of marriage in August.

Born in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal on November 6, 1958, he was a loving son of Joaquina Goncalves (Cerqueira) Cerqueira of Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal and the late Manuel de Araujo Cerqueira.

Jack grew up and was educated in Portugal. He moved to the United States in 1979, first settling in Norwood and for the past thirty-five years had proudly made his home in Mansfield.

Jack had been employed as a Distribution Analyst at Analog Devices in Norwood. His family was his greatest gift in life and while his children were growing up, he received so much pleasure coaching Mansfield Soccer.

Jack was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and a member and past officer of the Norwood Portuguese Club. His hobbies included playing the concertina and gardening, and when younger, enjoyed fishing and gardening.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his devoted children Daniel J. Cerqueira and his wife Courtney of Rye, New York, Michael W. Cerqueira and his girlfriend Julia of Jamaica Plain and Lisa C. Cerqueira of Boston. He was the cherished grandfather of Theodore, Rafael and Penelope. He was the dear brother of Maria J. Esteves and her husband Jorge of Walpole, Rosa M. Sheehan and her husband John of Weymouth, Alfredo B. Dias and his wife Maria of Canada, the late Joseph H. Cerqueira, who is survived by his wife Paula and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, July 14th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 15th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be held at a later date in Portugal.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Greater Boston Chapter of United Spinal Association, 2 Rehabilitation Way, Woburn, MA 01801.
